Adaptation # 7

The start of each game shall begin with a coin toss, and the possession arrow shall decide each possession thereafter, including any overtime period. In the pre-game conference, the captain of the visiting team shall call heads or tails when the coin is in the air.

The official shall catch and display the coin to each of the captains. If the visiting captain correctly calls the outcome of the coin toss, her team shall begin the game with possession of the basketball. If the visiting captain does NOT call the outcome of the coin toss correctly, the home team shall begin the game with possession of the basketball.

When the ball is placed at the disposal of the out-of-bounds player to begin the throw-in, the opponent shall have the possession indicator point in its favor. Should intervening action take place (pre-game technical foul, etc.), the game shall commence following rule procedure outlined for the action.

Overtime periods shall begin with the ball given to the team in whose direction the possession arrow points.

Rule 10-4 Pen Technical fouls against bench personnel are assessed to the offender and the head coach.

Adaptation # 10 A coach shall be charged with a technical foul only if a violation occurred as a result of the coach's own actions. There are no "indirect technical fouls".
